Who is Paolo Motta
I am a professionally trained musician, audio engineer and composer, and I founded PM Productions.
I have worked with artists all over the world, on records with mainstream and underground musicians alike, and along the way on television shows and live events. Online I am probably best known for the YouTube channel — millions of views and more than five thousand subscribers — and some of my own records have travelled far enough on streaming to bring in thousands of monthly listeners.
I believe in underground music, because it is the foundation the whole industry stands on. It is why I still listen to every unknown artist who sends me something. You never know if they are going to be the next Bob Dylan.

How it works
It doesn't matter where you are
Most of the records I make are for people I have never met. You send what you recorded, wherever you recorded it, and it comes back finished. The studio is in Rome — you do not have to be.
Questions many people ask
I recorded this in my bedroom. Is it good enough to work with?
Usually, yes. A clean vocal on a decent mic in a quiet room, DI guitars and a solid tempo map are plenty to build on. If something needs re-recording I'll tell you before any money changes hands, and tell you exactly how.
What does it cost?
Every project is different, so every price is. A small job costs little and a full production costs more, because mixing isn't the same work as building an arrangement from a voice memo. Send the song and you get a number for that song, not a package you don't need.
How long does it take?
A mix and master usually turns around in days. A full production takes longer, because I'm arranging and playing it. You get a date in the quote.
Who owns the music?
You do. You keep the song, the recordings, the arrangement and the masters. A producer credit is appreciated, never required.
Can you make it sound like Coldplay, OneRepublic or The Lumineers?
That's the essence of what I do. Every band is different, but a reference helps me get it where you expect it to be.
I am not in Italy. Does that matter?
No. Most of the people I work with never come to Rome. Files move over cloud services, and calls get booked in your time zone.
